Timeline of the Standard Model of Physics
The road towards the completion of the Standard Model of Physics has been a long one, beginning with the first observation of the electron in 1897 and culminating in the discovery of the Higgs Boson last week.
To put all this in perspective, The Economist has put together this timeline to illustrate both the theoretical explanation and subsequent discovery of each particle of the Model.
