Bubble Wrap Clouds
These are mammatus clouds that form as a result of higher temperatures, increased moisture and strong atmospheric instability and are usually found in mid-latitude and tropical climates.
They are formed when the atmosphere contains ice particles or water droplets and the increased weight causes the cloud to pull downwards instead of up.
Head to the Australian Geographic for more in this series of strange and unusual cloud formations.
